Linda Remeshatis will speak about her experiences and challenges in building a successful internet gift store. Announcing Girls' Biz 2010

GIRLS’BIZ provides girls in the 6^th, 7^th and 8^th grades the opportunity to develop and run their own business. The girls with Learn about business, Meet women business owners, Take a product survey, Develop a product line, Work with a designer on their logo and company name, and Present their products to the National Association of Women Business Owners – Greater Madison Chapter (NAWBO-Madison). Then they will Market and Sell their product and keep track of the expenses (and Profits!). In May 2011, they will use their profits on a group trip or project and a contribution to a charity of their choice. GIRLS’ BIZ includes team-building activities, an overnight trip, and product sales at the Women’s Expo and other venues.

The new NAWBO board just met last week and we are set for a fabulous new year! Our theme this year is "Empowering Women Entrepreneurs through Inspiration, Support and Collaboration."

We're super excited about adding a NAWBO at Lunch to build on the value of NAWBO in the AM. To start, NAWBO at Lunch will meet on the 2nd Wed. of the month. The first NAWBO at Lunch will meet at Barb Schlaefer's office, JC Rose Associates on the east side starting Wednesday, September 8th at Noon.

We are putting together some great inspirational speakers, our popular progressive dinners and other great programs. We're all excited about the new year. More announcements by email to come!

Yes, the rains will end and the first day of summer is only a few days away. I am concerned about sun damage and the seriousness of increasing numbers of skin cancers. Protect yourself everyday with sunscreen and check out www.ewg.com for a free sunscreen guide. You will also learn to look for sunscreens without Oxybenzone, Vitamin A (retinyl palmitate) and added insect repellent. Look for those which contain zinc, Titanium dioxide and Avobenzone or Mexoryl SX. Don't buy products that say they have 50 spf and higher--some of these are even more dangerous.
